Declaration of Support For an Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea

Declaration of Support
For an Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea

We. Australians and New Zealanders from the Oceania region fully support the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea by the nation itself. We join the world progressives in supporting the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea. KOREA IS ONE!

President Kim IL Sung devoted his life for the cause of national reunification. This is an earnest desire of the Korean people but which still eludes them until now.

The United States occupation of South Korea after the liberation of Korea from the Japanese military rule created the division of the country. The US provoked the Korean War from June 25, 1950-July 27, 1953 which ended with the signing of the US of an Armistice Agreement not a Peace Treaty. A ferroconcrete wall runs 240 kilometers along the front line south of the Military Demarcation Line as a barrier across the Korean Peninsula.

Korea's reunification is not only an internal problem of the Korean nation but also is an urgent task of the times for world peace.

We strongly support the Korean people's demand for the immediate withdrawal of all US troops and nuclear weapons from South Korea so that sovereignty can be established all over the country.

We demand the conclusion of the peace treaty between the DPRK and the USA.

We demand an end to the triangular military alliance of the U.S, Japan and South Korea and the joint provocative war exercises by the U.S. and South Korea aimed at DPRK which hinder the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea.

We want peace and security in Northeast Asia and the whole of Asia-Pacific region. NO to US Defense Strategy to "rebalance to Asia-Pacific" which will bring more US troops and nukes to the region.
