Towering Spirit of Struggle

Towering Spirit of Struggle
The all-people committee to commemorate the lapse of five years since Ryongsan incident made up of 146 civic and social organizations of south Korea held a press conference in Ryongsan District, Seoul on January 13 and pledged to wage an all-people anti-"government" struggle.
Speakers at the press conference accused the authorities of mobilizing police and ruthlessly killing evacuees who demanded the right to existence in Ryongsan on January 20, 2009.
The present "government", however, has added to the pain of wounds of the bereaved families, the speakers said, adding:
The Park Geun Hye regime has paid lip-service to the great unity of people but behind the scene it appointed Kim Sok Gi, then chief of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, who directly masterminded the killings of evacuees as president of an air service company.
The "government" let the prime mover of the tragic incident hold the post of power, far from punishing him even though the wrong development and excessive repression deprived innocent people of their lives in a minute. This amounts to the declaration of its intent to carry forward what was advocated by the Lee Myung Bak regime, the worst regime in history of the nation's division.
We can not hold only a memorial service under the harsh suppression, the speakers said, vowing to fight it out against the "government" until the truth about the incident is probed and the mastermind of the killings is punished.
They said they would hold press conference, information service, candlelight meeting and memorial service as part of the anti-"government" struggle in Seoul and in areas of Kyonggi Province till January 20.
