Rodong Sinmun Calls for Giving Steady Continuity to History and Tradition of Self-Reliance

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- All officials, party members and other working people should give full play to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude whose might has been clearly proven in the protracted historical struggle, and the spirit of achieving the prosperity of the great Paektusan nation, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in an editorial.
    It goes on:
The Korean people have advanced the revolution and construction by holding fast to self-reliance as their lifeline since the very day of starting the building of rich and powerful country.
The spirit of making Yanji bomb displayed in the forest of Mt. Paektu brought about the shining victory of the anti-Japanese war, and the great advance made in the spirit of self-reliance that prevailed in the 1950s helped the country open the gate of socialist industrialization much earlier than other countries.
Self-reliance represents the ever-victorious banner of the Korean revolution and the eternal spirit of the DPRK.
We have to steadily advance along the road of self-reliance, in the future, too, just as we weathered all sorts of hardships and trials of history, firmly believing in our own efforts.
It is necessary to give fuller play to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance. This provides the master key to giving fullest play to the advantages and might of Korean-style socialism, something hardly imaginable under capitalism, and making socialism incomparably superior to capitalism in all aspects.
We should make a breakthrough in the general onward movement this year, too, by our own efforts and register a shining victory in it just as we have recorded a heroic epic of self-reliance in the annals of the revolution. -0-
