Kim Il Sung's Feats Performed for Building Juche-based Militia Force

Pyongyang, January 13 (KCNA) -- Jan. 14 marks the 56th anniversary of the founding of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards.

Over the past 50 odd years, the Worker-Peasant Red Guards, the Juche-based people's defence forces, have reliably carried out the socialist cause, each firmly holding a hammer, sickle or writing brush in one hand and arms of revolution in the other.

This history is brilliantly recorded with the immortal revolutionary life and feats of President Kim Il Sung who provided a precious tradition of building the revolutionary people's defence forces in the crucible of the anti-Japanese struggle and opened a new chapter of the Juche-based militia defece force.

The President made a new history of the revolutionary militia force through his original ideological and theoretical activities and outstanding leadership in the first half of the 1930s.

He made speeches at various meetings including the meeting at Mingyuegou in December, Juche 20 (1931) and set forth the idea of waging an all-people resistance war to strengthen the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army and paramilitary organizations and defend guerrilla bases by arming all the people.

He paid deep attention to all issues ranging from the issue of letting people from all walks of life including Children's Corps members and young people join paramilitary organizations including the Children's Vanguard, the self-defence force against the Japanese army and young volunteers corps to their military drills and living.

He indicated tasks and ways for building revolutionary guerrilla bases in various places of the homeland and expanding and intensifying the struggle of people's armed organizations including production guerrillas, workers' shock brigades in various works and at meetings in the second half of the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s.

He went to secret bases in the homeland together with anti-Japanese war hero Kim Jong Suk in June, 1945, indicating concrete duties before the paramilitary organizations, and guided the final operation plan of the Rajin People's Armed Unit to be involved in the operation of the country's liberation at the secret rendezvous on Mt. Sahyang.

He energetically led the work to establish the militia force to defend itself the people's lives and properties after the liberation of the country.

After the war, he made a deep insight into the requirements of the developing Korean revolution and the changing situation in the country and reorganized the former people's self-defence force for its further development and proclaimed the founding of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards, working people's militia force for self-defence, on Jan. 14, 1959.

The founding of the guards is the proud fruition of the President's military idea of self-defence and policy of putting all the people under arms and the shining victory of the traditional revolutionary mass line of the Workers' Party of Korea.
