NSL, Draconian Fascist Law
It has been 68 years since the "National
Security Law", an unprecedented fascist law, was fabricated in south Korea
on Dec. 1, 1948.
The NSL, a copy of the "public peace
maintenance act" dating back to the period of the Japanese imperialists'
rule over Korea, has been steadily revised as a tool for tightening the fascist
dictatorial system whenever the people's aspiration for independence, democracy
and reunification grew stronger and the ruling crisis of the ruling quarters
deepened in south Korea.
The NSL stipulates the definition of inter-Korean
relations as the hostile one and execution of all those who demand inter-Korean
reconciliation, unity and national reunification.
The south Korean people have been deprived of their
elementary rights; the freedom of assembly, demonstration, association and the
press by the NSL.
From the very day of the appearance of the
"National Security Law" it earned an ill-fame as a tool for the south
Korean ruling quarters' stay in power and the elimination of the political
rivals and a means for stamping out the people's movement for independence,
democracy and reunification.
Its fascist and treacherous nature has been more
clearly revealed under the dictatorial rule of Park Geun-hye.
The gentries of Park forcibly dismantled the
Unified Progressive Party in 2014 by invoking the NSL.
Branding the south Korean people’s peaceful rallies
in demand of basic right to life as the pro-north Korean leftists’ scheme for
overthrowing the government, the Park regime arrested figures of the
progressive organizations at random.
The current situation divulges the greatest crime
of Park, the descendant of “yusin”, who stamped out democracy achieved by the
people and incited inter-Korean confrontation by dint of the NSL.
The NSL, which reduced south Korea into a tundra of
human rights and plunged inter-Korean relations to an irreparable catastrophe,
should be abrogated as soon as possible.
